Blumberg I / Baden-Württemberg – Straub-Verpackung & Holzbau Bruno Kaiser-Wald
Our very first myreforest woods! In Blumberg, in the Riedoeschingen district, we were able to purchase one hectare of fallow land. Here, we plan to create a natural, sustainable mixed forest.

We were delighted to continue reforesting our myreforest Blumberg I area this fall.
On the left section of the fallow land, we decided to plant an oak forest. Thanks to the support of the two companies Straub-Verpackungen and Holzbau Bruno Kaiser, as well as the grant from SC Freiburg’s FAIR ways Förderpreis 2025, we were able to plant 600 young trees this fall. Both companies not only provided financial support but also sent nearly 50 apprentices and their supervisors to join us for a joint reforestation day on October 31, 2025. True to the saying “many hands make light work,” we were able to plant all the saplings in a single morning. A fence protects the young trees from browsing and trampling damage.
The concluding group lunch, enjoyed in fabulous fall weather, provided plenty of time and opportunity to get to know one another and exchange ideas.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many volunteers, to SC Freiburg, and to the two companies, Holzbau Bruno Kaiser and Straub-Verpackungen, for their generous support.

We’re making steady progress in Blumberg. Our mixed forest has grown by another 300 trees. The 7th and 8th-grade students from the Hochschwarzwald Special Education Center (Titisee-Neustadt) are once again helping with the reforestation of sweet chestnut, larch, and wild cherry trees.
A total of 11 highly motivated students made sure to pitch in on December 9, 2024, and planted the young trees despite challenging weather conditions—around 1 degree Celsius with heavy snow showers. The school classes were supported by their teachers, Karina and Stefan Hämmerle, and our forestry expert, Marcus Ewald.
Special thanks go to the BEATRICE NOLTE FOUNDATION FOR NATURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION for its generous support, which enabled us to successfully carry out this project.

In beautiful late-summer weather, we tackled the second phase of our land maintenance efforts in Blumberg. With the help of our volunteers, we were able to clear away the undergrowth around all the seedlings we planted in the spring. We also found plenty of natural regrowth, which will now receive plenty of light and air again so it can continue to thrive.

On July 20, 2024, it was time for the first stand tending in the “myreforest-forest” in Blumberg. Stand tending refers to measures taken to promote growth in a forest stand. The goal of stand tending is to maintain the quality and viability of the young trees. Mowing removes unwanted shrubs and grasses to provide the young trees with good growing conditions.
At the same time, we were able to assess the survival rate on our site, which—at over 90%—makes us very satisfied.

The area in Blumberg is large enough to be reforested in several phases. After our hardworking students planted 200 saplings in part of the area, we reforested a section for Retro Promotion GmbH. As part of the 2024 Rothaus Black Forest Classic Tour, participants will get a chance to see the young trees during the upcoming rallies. We’ve created a dedicated project page for this: Blumberg II.

Despite temperatures of 3 degrees and sleet showers, six brave students from the Hochschwarzwald Special Education Center (Titisee-Neustadt) were determined to help us with our first reforestation project in Blumberg. With a lot of heart, dedication, and tireless hard work, they planted nearly 200 young trees that morning.
The team is looking forward to returning in the fall to take part in the next phase. Many thanks to the Cordes & Graefe Stiftung for their support, and to forestry contractor Marcus Ewald and teacher Karina Hämmerle for their outstanding efforts.

We’re excited about our very first myreforest-forest ;-)! The reforestation is scheduled for March 2024, and we still need your support.
