Steinen / Baden-Württemberg
Steinen is located in the Vorderes Wiesental valley of the Southern Black Forest. In the Hägelberg district, the dead spruce trees were removed in the fall of 2025; we will be replacing them with sustainable deciduous trees as part of several projects.

On March 26, amid surprisingly wintry conditions, we launched a biodiversity-rich project together with two 8th-grade classes from Hellbergschule in Lörrach. Despite recurring snow showers, the 35 students bravely persevered and planted a total of 400 trees—not even the mud and cold could stop them. The selection of tree species could hardly have been more diverse: with 13 different species, a new biodiversity hotspot is taking shape here. The trees planted included pear, wild service tree, sweet chestnut, serviceberry, red oak, small-leaved linden, serviceberry, English oak, sessile oak, bird cherry, wild apple, Douglas fir, and small-leaved linden. This diversity is particularly valuable from an ecological perspective, as flowering wild fruit species, for example, serve as a food source for numerous insects. At the same time, the species-rich mixed forest increases the stability of the stand and enhances the area’s appeal for local recreation.

Die Fläche ist vom Dorfgemeinschaftshaus Steinen in 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Wegen der dort vorhandenen Parkmöglichkeiten und der Flächengröße von ca. 1 Hektar eignet sich diese Fläche besonders gut für Teamevents.
