Oberried VII / Baden-Württemberg

At an elevation of approximately 1,250 meters, near the “Erlenbacher Hut” above Oberried, lies a fallow area that fell victim to drought and bark beetles some time ago.

Since the area was buried under half a meter of snow on the originally planned date, we were able to get to work two weeks later, this time under bright sunshine. Snow was only visible on the opposite slopes of the Feldberg.
With 23 volunteers—including children and teenagers—we planted 300 trees. We chose fir, larch, and sycamore maple—species typical of mixed mountain forests, well-suited to the location. With the beautiful weather and the great view, everyone was in high spirits and motivated, giving it their all to ensure the trees were planted firmly in the ground and had the best chance of growing tall and strong.

The overgrown area has been neglected for a very long time (more than 50 years), and natural regeneration has not taken hold. The upper section has also been damaged by a storm. We plan to plant a sustainable mixed forest here as soon as possible. With an area of approximately 1.0 ha, we have quite a bit of work ahead of us and look forward to your support.
