In the “Kreuzlinger Forst” ” landscape conservation area just outside Munich, a vast 4.7-hectare area of fallow land is to be reforested.

The weather was ideal—dry and sunny, with a temperature of 12 degrees—when the two managing directors of FFO, along with seven employees, got to work that morning. The soil was still damp from the rain that had fallen the previous days. Everything was ready for the reforestation effort—planting sites had been marked and the roots had been trimmed.
During the welcome remarks, we expressed our heartfelt thanks to FFO—including for the fact that students at the Eugen-Papst-Schule with special educational needs in the areas of learning, language, and emotional and social development had already been able to plant 200 of the 400 donated trees.
Trained and guided by forester Christian Gick, the volunteers worked their way swiftly through the rows, planting 100 Norway maples and 50 red oaks. Afterward, the managing directors erected the informational sign before everyone headed off in high spirits for the concluding lunch.
The motivated and hardworking volunteers planted 150 trees in a short amount of time and protected them with 150 tree guards—kudos and a heartfelt thank you!

On the afternoon of March 18, 2026, 45 employees of the Sakosta Group from various locations across Germany gathered in the Kreuzlinger Forest to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary. The team event marked the conclusion of a multi-day conference held at the holding company’s headquarters. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Sakosta donated 40 × 40 trees! After a warm and informative welcome from myreforest, the owner of Sakosta, and the forester, the event got underway. Most of the employees were already familiar with the tools, so in just 2.5 hours, 370 trees were planted in high spirits and protected with growth sleeves. This is an important step toward creating a future diverse mixed forest of Douglas fir, black pine, larch, red oak, and Norway maple in this vital forest area just outside Munich.

Kicking off the new reforestation season!
It was sunny, it was very warm, and working in those conditions wasn’t easy. And yet, on September 19, 2025, to kick off the season on our fallow land in Krailling, we were able to welcome nearly 100 volunteers throughout the day.
The morning kicked off with 60 students and 4 teachers from the Reinhard Private Technical High School in Munich. The many students were able to experience the start of the new school year and their new collaboration firsthand through a meaningful team-building event.
In the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Trane Roggenkamp with 30 apprentices, who also kicked off their new training year with this wonderful nature conservation project. Accompanied by Mr. Roggenkamp, the entire team accomplished an incredible amount of work on the site.
The afternoon was rounded out by a visit and hands-on help from Ms. Bradel of the Rotary Club Gauting-Würmtal.

A total of 600 saplings of mountain maple, tree hazel, and wild cherry were planted on the site. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the supporters of this project:

In the Spirit of Integration!
We enjoyed a very special reforestation day with the help of the Rotary Club of Munich-Blutenburg. A total of 66 volunteers gathered in the Kreuzlinger Forest on April 12, 2025, to combine active nature conservation with integration. Refugee women and their children from Uganda, Peru, Syria, Italy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Tanzania, Somalia, and Argentina planted trees together. They were accompanied by JUNO (A Voice for Refugee Women) and members of the Rotary family. Everyone, ranging in age from 5 to 85, was enthusiastic and worked diligently in international teams to plant 400 trees.

A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Munich-Blutenburg and all the dedicated volunteers who made this wonderful project possible.

OpenText was back on the scene as early as April 11. With 13 dedicated OpenText employees and four additional volunteers, we were able to plant another 350 saplings throughout the day. Today, in addition to Krailling Mayor Haux, we were also able to welcome the Münchner Merkur (article to follow). Once again, a heartfelt thank you goes to OpenText GmbH for their generous donation and tireless efforts in the Kreuzlinger Forest.

All good things come in threes! True to this motto, we were able to continue our reforestation efforts in Krailling near Munich last weekend. From Thursday, April 10, through Saturday, April 12, 2025, we were able to continue reforesting our large area for three consecutive days.

On the first morning, we welcomed three different groups right off the bat. The 14 employees from OpenText GmbH in Grasbrunn used the morning as a team-building event. They were actively supported by 11 students from the Montessori School of Aktion Sonnenschein, as well as 10 students with physical disabilities from the Pfennigparade Phoenix Schools, accompanied by their five caregivers. The diverse group was introduced to the practical aspects of planting by the myreforest team and forester Christian Gick and set to work with enthusiasm. In total, the OpenText team and our hardworking students planted 250 saplings of Sycamore Maple and Douglas Fir that morning.

Today we had better conditions—no rain—which made the work much more enjoyable, so we were able to plant another 250 seedlings this morning. That brings our total to just under 600 trees. The remaining 400 seedlings will be planted next week, meaning that in this first phase we’ve already been able to plant 1,000 young trees on the fallow land in Krailling. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated volunteers and the Cordes & Graefe Foundation for their outstanding commitment.

Today we also welcomed media representatives to the site. Two teams of journalists from the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Münchner Merkur visited us and showed interest in our work.

With the help of 17 students from Class 9a at Paul-Hey Middle School in Gauting, we kicked off the second day of reforestation:

We started out in the rain, which stayed with us for almost the entire morning. Despite the adverse conditions, everyone gave it their all, ensuring that we were able to plant 330 saplings in just a few hours. A heartfelt thank you to the students, the teachers, the Allianz team, and the Cordes & Graefe Foundation, all of whom contributed to this successful reforestation day.

The 50 students from classes 8b and 9m at Paul-Hey Middle School in Gauting didn’t let the weather get them down.

Our team visited Krailling on June 27, 2024, to inspect the site and meet with the forest owner. Now that we’ve finalized plans for site preparation, tree species, and protection against browsing, we can begin the first phase of reforestation in October/November 2024. For the first section of the site, we’ve chosen red oak, wild cherry, and hazel. We appreciate your support!

We plan to use 4–5 different species of deciduous trees for the reforestation project. In addition, the entire area will be protected by a fence to prevent damage from wildlife browsing and root browsing. Preparations are underway, and we appreciate your support!
